Netflix Synopsis

"Himuro praises Haida's work; Retsuko learns about Ton's new job. Feeling guilty, she tries to talk to Haida, but he's too busy doing Himuro's bidding."

Summary

Himuro states he is unimpressed with Haida's work, stating that he should let others know his efficiency secret. Yagyu inspects his work and is surprised that he is indeed finished. Haida reveals he automated the process by using a bit of code. He had been using the code for three years without any issues, but didn't share it due to Ton not being tech savvy. Himuro is impressed and wants to know any other ideas Haida may have.

Later, Retsuko tells Haida that she is amazing, which makes him blush as she had only one other time told him this. Haida believes that if they have done this earlier, they would have eliminated a lot of their busywork and absences wouldn't be a problem and Kabae may have still been with them. Haida starts to work overtime in order to implement more of his ideas. Retsuko goes to karaoke with Manaka. There Manaka shares she had a bad day as she had to train a new middle-aged employee at work. She explains he is big and bad with tech and instead uses abacus to calculate.

At work, Manaka sees Ton using the abacus again and tells him to stop using it and use the computer as they need the sales data. Outside of the store, Retsuko is trying to confirm if its indeed Ton. She takes some pictures and sends them to Fenneko, who is shocked by confirms its Ton. Moment later, Ton's daughters approach Retsuko, who gets scared and takes out her nunchucks, but gets disarmed with an easy. The two share that Ton isn't working at the company anymore. They felt he was acting strange and decided to tail him and found he is working in a convenience store. They believe their mother doesn't know and Ton is afraid to tell them, and ask Retsuko to help him.

Fenneko and Retsuko wonder if Ton's situation is related to what they have told Himuro. Haida tries to convince Tsubone to use his code, but she refuses. Ookami comments his code makes this much more easier. Haida states the way they do things is outdated, but that annoys Tsubone, who leaves annoyed while apologizing for being outdated. Retsuko follows Tsubone and asks her if she knows what happened to Ton. After hearing about it from her, Retsuko tells Haida that Ton wasn't promoted, and they put him in a warehouse wanting him to quit. Haida tells her that there is nothing they can do as it was his decision to quit. Retsuko tries to tell him about her dinner with Himuro, but seeing how busy Haida is, she decides to not tell him and leaves. Haida stays late to finish his work. Himuro sees him and comments that while working hard is good, its not if its to the point of excess. Haida comments that its been a while since he actually enjoyed working and after he got complemented, it made him think he could contribute more.

Himuro takes Haida to the gym, where he tells him that when he became president, he was amazed how old-fashioned the company was. But then, he felt its his destiny to turn around the company. Himuro feels that Yagyu isn't fit to reform the accounting department, and they need someone young and ambitious like Haida.

Retsuko shares what happened with Ton to Gori and Washimi, and Gori tells her its not her fault, but Ton's decision to quit. Washimi tells her that the company needs wise decisions right now and time will tell if this was the right decision. Himuro makes Haida the new accounting director, and the news shocks everyone in the accounting division. That evening, Haida and other coworkers go celebrate his promotion. Retsuko skips the party and instead goes to see Tadano.
